I wrote this for my mom on mothers day 2010
I walked along a haunted path, of darkness and of shadows.
As I trudged through pitch-dark woods I came upon a crow.
“Halt” said he “For could it be, a foe as great as thee?”
I did not know what i should do, therefor I stood my ground.
And as I stood, in fear and fright, at the crow I stared.
I could not let this somber crow, know that I was scared
He looked at me, with cold black eyes and knew my strengths were lies
He opened up his mouth to speak, but words did not come out.
For just then through the groves of love and light a hand came to my sight.
I knew the hand of old and strong, was with me all along.
The crow stepped back and spread its wings to go taunt other things.
I looked back to find that hand was none other than my mother.
She looked at me with eyes of blue and that was when I knew;
I never trusted one like her, not now nor not ever
She lifted me into her arms and we rode off together.
Nothing could break us in two; our paths could not deter
For with ones mom we know so well, that she would walk through hell,
to see her kin come back again and fight another battle.
For her hearts not big nor small but always everlasting.
When my fears put me to the test, my mother proved the best.
